The cloud streamed tool is called the MetaHuman Creator, and as per its name it is designed to be used. Characters can resemble people of any shape, size, gender and ethnicity, with each character coming with their own set. Epic Games has published a blog post about a new utility on the way for Unreal Engine users. This means that starting today, users will be able to create their own unique MetaHumans and download them for direct use in Unreal Engine. Today the company announced that it is giving users early access to this tool. Back in February, Epic Games unveiled a cloud-based Unreal Engine tool called 'Metahuman Creator' that allows graphic designers to quickly. Epic Games had first introduced the MetaHuman Creator back in February this year.

Once a human is built, it can be animated using performance capture tools, such as Unreal’s Live Link Face iOS app. Judging by the clip, we’re still not quite out of the uncanny valley, but the ability to create close-to convincing CG characters (especially at scale) has the scope to be transformative for many industries. Currently, the app boasts a diverse range of faces, around 30 hair styles that use Unreal’s strand-based hair, clothing and 18 different body types. We’re talking a video game character creator on steroids, complete with an expanding library of preset visual attributes. MetaHuman Creator has been decades in the making.
